Dr. Negar Sohbati graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Neuroscience, and obtained her Doctor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry. She completed clinical externships with honours in private practices and hospitals across the United States and Canada. Among other scholarships, she was awarded the Lawrence P. Felgenbaum Clinical Optometry Memorial Award, given to the student considered the most outstanding clinician in the graduating class. Upon graduating, she continued to pursue her academic interests and completed her Primary Care and Ocular Disease residency at the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Sohbati has extensive training in diagnosing, treating, and managing ocular disease and has a special interest in emergency conditions. She is committed to practicing evidence based optometry. Dr. Negar has completed the rigorous qualifications to become a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, and will be defending her written work in November 2021. In her free time she likes to go on outdoor runs, lift weights, spend time with friends and family, and watch figure skating competitions - as she was once a professional figure skater herself.
